Many years ago Pages became the main avenue for brands on Facebook to connect with their audience.
However, Facebook Groups are once again becoming favoured with users because they present a much different dynamic than the one-way broadcast style of a standard page into the newsfeed.
With Facebook groups, users can start discussions of their own which makes for a much more organic feel to those conversations.
If you don’t have a Facebook group and you’re thinking about starting one, here are some quick tips get you on your way.
- Make your group private – By doing this you give the group a more exclusive feel and it also makes the group’s users more comfortable to share their thoughts. They won’t feel like they’re sharing their comments with the entire internet. Instead, they’re just sharing with a group of like-minded people.
- Set some ground rules – Make sure you have ground rules against things like profanity, self-promotion, spam links, inappropriate content, etc. Be certain that people who join your group understand that there is a certain code of conduct it’s expected of them .
- Don’t forget to promote your Facebook Group – Brands promote their Facebook page, their Twitter feed, their Instagram account, their LinkedIn company page, their YouTube channel and so on, but they don’t promote their Facebook group. This is a huge missed opportunity to hear from your most dedicated supporters brand ambassadors fans! With a Facebook Group, they will tell you, on their own terms ,what matters to them, where their interests lie and what they want to talk about.
